Frank Hyla is the host of Time on the Water, which airs locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. He is a lifetime resident of the Chicago area and has been an outdoor writer and television host for twelve years.Frank is honored to be currently sponsored by national companies, such as Shimano, Power-Pro, Minn Kota, Humminbird, and Jackall Baits.
While Frank enjoys fishing for all species of fish, bass fishing has become his passion. He has tournament fished since the early 1980s and won state championships in both Illinois and Wisconsin. He also won regional and national tournaments, including the FLW Tour. In 2010, Frank turned his passion for the sport to his occupation when he opened and managed Time on the Water Outdoors and Big Buck Archery until its closing in 2014.
Frank now dedicates his time both filming and lecturing to help anglers of the Midwest become more successful fishing lakes and rivers throughout the Midwest. Starting January, 2016, Frank will be the Youth Fishing Coordinator for Shimano American, the world’s foremost rod and reel producer. He will be attending upcoming high school and college bass tournaments, both locally and nationally, while creating and administering programs designed especially for the junior, high school and college angler.
